Mountain & Meadow Garden Design is a growing fine gardening and design studio based in Greene County, NY. Our team uses an ecological lens as we design, install, and maintain vibrant flower and vegetable gardens, meadows, and woodland landscapes. Our approach prioritizes artistry and environmental stewardship. We specialize in native plants.

Position Overview

We are seeking candidates who wish to grow a career within the horticultural industry, and who are passionate about sustainability. As part of our crew, you will have the opportunity to learn and hone your skills while working in beautiful gardens.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain gardens at private residencies throughout the Hudson Valley
• Perform regular garden care including planting, dividing, weeding, mulching, pruning, deadheading, and watering
• Monitor plant health and identify potential pest or disease issues
• Work both collaboratively with team members, and also independently at times
• Arrive on time each day, prepared with tools, water and lunch
• Adapt to changing schedules due to weather and seasonal demands
• Refer to the staff handbook as needed for workplace policies and protocols

Qualifications

• Prior experience with plants and gardening is preferred, however entry-level applicants are also welcome to apply
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous physical work in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites (within approximately 30 miles of Catskill, NY)
• Dependable, punctual, and hard-working
• Positive attitude and energetic disposition
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Comfortable taking instruction and asking questions when needed
• Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and quality on high-end properties
• Desire to expand horticultural knowledge
• Passion for plants, the environment, and sustainable gardening practice

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced gardener and thoughtful leader who is interested in growing with our company. As a small but expanding team, the right candidate will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time, deepen their knowledge, and hone horticultural skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, and communicate with a team of 1-3 gardeners
• Communicate with clients on site
• Work with your crew to install and maintain gardens at private residencies throughout the Hudson Valley
• Perform regular garden care including planting, dividing, weeding, mulching, pruning, deadheading, and watering
• Monitor plant health and identify potential pest or disease issues
• Work both collaboratively with team members, and also independently at times
• Arrive on time each day, prepared with tools, water and lunch
• Adapt to changing schedules due to weather and seasonal demands
• Keep company vehicle and tools clean and organized
• Fill out work log daily
• Refer to the staff handbook as needed for workplace policies and protocols

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional gardening experience
• Prior leadership experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous physical work in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites (within approximately 30 miles of Catskill, NY)
• Self-starter
• Dependable, punctual, and hard-working
• Positive attitude and energetic disposition
• Excellent verbal communication skills
